Hi Hubert,

I've used the g4u programm several times with great pleasure, but now
I run into a
problem with the booting of a Dell Vostro 1510 laptop.

After the CD starts booitng, it panics pretty soon. This happens with
both the 2.3
version and the 2.4alpha which I downloaded one hour ago.

The last lines during boot are:
PCI BIOS rev. 3.0 found at 0xfde11
PCI IRQ Routing Table rev. 1.0 found at 0xfdeb0, size 304 bytes (17 entries)
pcibios_pir_init: bad IRQ table checksum
uvm_fault(0xc06c2a00, 0x5000, 1) -> 0xe
fatal page fault in supervisor mode
trap type 6 code 0 eip c07f6e5d cs 8 eflags 10246 cr2 5c64 ilevel 8
panic: trap

The operating system has halted.
Please press any key to reboot.

I tried all 3 options from the alpha release (normal mode, no ACPI, no
ACPI, no SMP), but
that did not make any difference.
I also have similar error message if I run the 2.3 version, there are
some small
differences in the listed address in uvm_fault and in the trap type.

Do you have any clue what is causing this? Is the laptop to modern to
use the g4u
programm (that would be a pitty because I really like your programm.
It is so easy to
resetup a system using the saved diskcopy). Is there options I can
disable in the BIOS of
the laptop to prevent the bios checksum error?

Kind regards,
Sjaak van Herpen
Holland
