I logged into gmail and it showed the updated picture. At the time I was running beta 3 on Ubuntu Edgy. I have since updated to beta 5 and the picture still has not updated. It appears this may be a bug/problem coming from either the gmail chat feature and/or the gtalk server. For instance, I can reproduce the issue with no problem when using gmail chat and gaim. However, when I use the gtalk client (installed app) and gaim - everything works perfect. So my guess is that gmail chat is not correctly asking the server to broadcast the new picture. If the correct new picture was coming from the gtalk server as it should, I believe gaim would pick it up just as it does when you update your picture from the gtalk client. I added an MSN friend to it, and it has failed to get the display picture for the account. I ran both the win32 and the X versions of the client, and neither one will show a display picture for the buddy. I also tried opening a chat with her and sent a few messages back and forth.
