Summary: unable to add

Initial Comment:
pop up window appears saying: "could not add the buddy 1"
of course this is fake buddy - I have no such buddy,
even if I want to add such buddy it says the same
what is strange, it happens only with gaim - licq does not have such error
I've changed server to 'login.icq.com' but this does not help either
removing folder .gaim and creating new does not help as well ;-(

thelinuxduck: Have you set an icon for yourself using the icon selector in
the bottom right corner of the Gaim buddylist?

The error occurs when Gaim isn't able to set or unset the buddy icon for
your ICQ account. Gaim tries to store a blurb of information about the
buddy icon in your server-side buddy list. The buddy name for this blurb
is set to "1." It's extremely unlikely that this error is caused by
anything else.

"Perhaps it is related to the attempt by GAIM to load a buddy icon into
the ICQ account during startup."
That is my suspicion, and it is enough for me to consider this a duplicate
of the other bug because the root cause of the problem is the same.

Based on the information available to me, I disagree that this bug is a
duplicate of #1586522 for two reasons:

1) I did not have this problem with beta4.
2) I have never assigned a buddy icon to my ICQ account.

According to bug #1586522, the error occurs when the user attempts to
change the buddy icon on an ICQ account. I am seeing this error on
initial loading of GAIM. Perhaps it is related to the attempt by GAIM to
load a buddy icon into the ICQ account during startup, but not as a result
of any action on my part other than starting GAIM.

Same problem. Running XP Pro, GAIM 2.0.0beta6. Did not happen on
previous versions of GAIM beta. Does not affect the ability to add
buddies, only occurs when GAIM first loads. Nothing more than an
annoyance.

i get the same thing every time i log into windows (vista32) - a little
window that tells me i can't add buddy 1. minor annoyance, but i figure
it's a gaim thing, not a network thing
