Summary: GAIM crashes on Jabber over TLS open
Initial Comment:
So I've been happily using GAIM for a couple of years on Linux and Windows
(when I must).
Last week, GAIM v1.5.0-11.el3 (which is what up2date for RHEL3 serves up)
stopped working for me. I use GAIM to Jabber to co-workers, and so GAIM is set
to auto-login to that. When it does, BOOM it just crashes instantly. I
narrowed it down to Jabber by editing the xml file to turn off all auto-logins
and started each protocol up one at a time.
So now I'm forced to run WinXP in a VM and run GAIM there, which works but is
not convenient. I've seen other GAIM + Jabber = Crash messages in the past
week, so I am not alone here.
Any chance of some help? If you need more information from me, please let me

The other bug report suggests it is fixed by the latest up2date, but this
is not true for me.
However, I fixed it using a separate redhat bug report:

Turns out the voodoo is to find libfreeb13.so under your firefox directory
and make a symbolic link to it in /usr/bin.
Thanks for the tip, akrherz, it led me to the solution eventually.
