Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Eric Lambart (lambart) Assigned to: Mark Doliner (thekingant) Summary: Ability to set extended ICQ info Initial Comment: GAIM & applet 0.57 linux 2.4.18, RH 7.1 For both AIM and ICQ accounts, Tools->Protocol Actions->(AIM/ICQ)->Set User Info allows me to enter some text. I have myself added as a buddy for all protocols. When I click on my AIM self, and then click the Info button (or right-click and select "Get Info"), a bunch of information pops up including the message I set. When I request info on my ICQ self, I am shown my UIN and Nick, but Name and Email are blank. That may be correct; I probably have them hidden. But my text set via "Set User Info" does not appear. There isn't even a displayed field name for it. I just logged on to ICQ via gtk+licq, which admittedly does not work incredibly well, but it has a much more elaborate "user information" window. My Nick ("aliias") and email are displayed as in GAIM. But there is a tab labeled "About" that I assume would probably contain the information GAIM tries to set for me, but it is also blank, just like the result I get from GAIM's "Get Info" It appears to me that this function is not working at all for ICQ. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-09 21:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Well, FWIW I do have an email address set with ICQ but yes, it IS set to be hidden... and I suppose the Get Info function doesn't realize I'm looking at my OWN Info so it's not revealing my email address because of the privacy setting. Or more likely, you need to perform a authentication when retrieving the data from ICQ to prove I own the account, before they'll reveal a hidden email address? Anyway, absolutely no hurry on this. Just trying to catch the leetle bugs for you since most everything works so well! =) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2002-04-26 14:35 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 icq info is already on the todo list :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Doliner (thekingant) Date: 2002-04-26 12:52 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=20979 Allowing ICQ to set this user info a bug. ICQ shouldn't set this info, since it doesn't show up anywhere. In time, this set info box will be replaced with a more complete window that lets you set more of the info that ICQ offers. And ICQ will also be able to view this info. You name and email address are blank because you haven't set them, or have email set to not show. Showing something like "Not Set" here is probably a good idea. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=549036&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
