My feature request is a way to call gaim, maybe by a new command line arg, that would not start a new instance, but raise one that is hidden in the notification area. When the main window is hidden in the notification area, it is apparently not minimized and cannot be seen by wmctrl. I would really like to bind a key to a command that would pop up the main window from the notification area. Maybe gaim --raise-window or something like that. Gaim is amazing. Thanks for the great product.... a single tabbed IM window is the greatest thing since ethernet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-09 21:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. How would i do that? When gaim is hidden in the notification area it is not minimized as far as I can tell. wmctrl has no listing of the window on any desktop. How would I raise the window if its not recogized by the window manager? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eduardo Perez Ureta (eperez) Date: 2004-05-20 09:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=60347 So, why don't set a keybinding to raise the main window? I don't like command line tools managing window states like focus or visibility state. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: John Russell (drjimmy42) Date: 2004-05-20 08:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=933318 Well from my own perspective I am allergic to mice. However, in a more general sense, it has to do with accessibility. Having features that require the mouse is usually not accessible. Most of those (such as menu hotkeys and tab focus) is available in case people can't or choose not to use the mouse. I suggested a command line option because it would probably not be too disruptive to anything else and it could easily be mapped to a key binding for those who choose and ignored by those who don't care. Thanks for the response. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eduardo Perez Ureta (eperez) Date: 2004-05-20 04:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=60347 What's the problem with clicking the icon in the notification area? I don't see a reason to do that from the command line. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=952575&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
