On my Windows version of AIM, it is possible to click on a link that has been designated target="_self" (e.g. <a href="www.google.com" target="_self">Google</a>), and the page will open within the "view profile" window. In gaim, clicking on these links always results in a new browser window opening rather than the page being loaded within the profile window. Is this a security measure or a bug? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-09 21:15 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. I could have sworn I'd seen it before somewhere other than in AIM. Either way (whether it's official or not), there are still many people that use the various subprofile services and it seems gaim should consider supporting them (unless there is a security issue, of course). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel (anyoneeb) Date: 2004-07-12 13:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=857631 WinAim 4.x (never used 5.x) dies on real HTML, too. The subprofile sites that use target="_self" all use AIM's version of HTML, same as IMs or regular profiles. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: jrdioko (jrdioko) Date: 2004-07-02 14:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1052697 Ok, I was just thinking about the many "Buddy Profile" services out there that use a target="_self" link to create an "extended profile" for AIM protocol users. Unless there is a security issue, it seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to have these links load within the "view profile" window (with all scripting and images disabled). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2004-07-02 06:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 i would say niether. we don't have a full html parser in gaim, just enough of one to do what the protocols actually use. gaim isn't designed for browsing the web, and so i would say this is the correct behavior. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=983897&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
