Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lee Roach (phroggie) Date: 2006-12-30 11:37 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=471347 Originator: NO 1) I think Etan was implying that you could write a plugin (if one doesn't already exist) to sort your buddies to mimic MSN Messenger style Online and Offline "groups". AFAIK, Gaim currently lacks the ability to do client-side only groups, so a plugin like this would probably be a complete hack. Because of Gaim's refusal to reorganize your groups, if your Yahoo buddies are in a different group than your ICQ buddies, you'll get behavior similar to what you're seeing. To get what you're looking for if this is the case, move all buddies into the same group, and you should be golden. 2) I just tested with revision 18063 and downloaded 1.5.0, and the sort by status option arranged my buddies like what you're wanting (even in 1.5.0). The only thing I can think of is that your status scores are out of whack (whether from a distro specific patch, some random plugin, or hand-editing prefs.xml), and you may want to adjust them. You can double check if this is so by opening prefs.xml in any text editor, and browsing to core -> status -> scores. Currently, Gaim is distributed with the following defaults: offline -500, available 100, unavailable -75, invisible -50, away -100, extended away -200, mobile -400, idle -10, and idle time -5. If applicable, *while Gaim is not running,* try changing your status scores to match that list. If you are in fact looking for MSN-style virtual groups, Etan pointed you down the right path. If it's some bug in Gaim that prevents the buddies within a group from being sorted properly, consider filing a bug report on the matter, and providing a whole lot more information in said report. Regardless, you're either requesting something that should be provided by a third-party plugin or a bug with something that Gaim already does, and this request should be closed as such. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Pierre K. (pkerchner) Date: 2006-12-30 04:52 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1620986 Originator: YES sorry 1.) there are tons of plug-ins Which is the right plug-in? 2.) "Buddy List -> Buddies -> Show Offline Buddies", followed up by "Buddy List -> Buddies -> Sort Buddies -> By Status" ist NOT sufficient - sorry It gives me my icq online buddies - then my icq offline buddies then my yahoo online buddiess - then my yahoo offline buddies but I want: all my icq online buddies, then my yahoo online buddies, ... and then all my offline buddies you see a difference? best pierre ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Etan Reisner (deryni9) Date: 2006-12-29 11:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=516184 Originator: NO Buddy sorting functions are addable from plugins, you could easily right a plugin which would group buddies (within existing groups only, I believe) into Online/Offline 'sections' and in fact the current 'Sort by Status' should do this, sorting between groups is not something I think gaim is set up for. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lee Roach (phroggie) Date: 2006-12-29 10:17 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=471347 Originator: NO "Buddy List -> Buddies -> Show Offline Buddies", followed up by "Buddy List -> Buddies -> Sort Buddies -> By Status". Is that sufficient? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1624141&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
