Initial Comment: Feature Request: When someone is typing a response, a more eye catching approach would be helpful. Looking to the upper right hand corner is not where ones attention on the interface is generally focused, especially when you have multiple people messaging you. The user spends most time looking at the tabs and their colors. One solution might be to do what the Yahoo interface does, an animation of the letters in the tab which indicates typing. Also, you can not someone is typing if the tabs are hidden because there are so many tabs.
