Currently I have them disabled, but I still see them when I scroll over a name on my buddy list. I hate them with a passion! Don't want to be a pain in the ass or anything, just thought I would throw in my 2 bits. Otherwise, people are forced to either have the big list or not be able to see buddy icons. As for creating a separate pref, I doubt it's really necessary. This is the first request I've seen about this. You might just want to edit your copy of the source code. Assuming they do not want to create a new preference for this and just have it read off of the preferece "Show buddy icons" the following change should work: line 2135 and 2140 in gtkblist.c should be changed to: if(td->avatar && gaim_prefs_get_bool("/gaim/gtk/conversations/im/show_buddy_icons")) Sorry I couldnt make a diff but cvs seems to be broken for me. I hope those lines are right, my checkout is a few days old and it wont let me cvs up. If the gaim team does want a new prefernce for this I am willing to create that was well.
