Summary: Gaim support of superbuddy sound and animation?

Initial Comment:
Using gaim 1.1.2 on Mandrake 10.0

One of my buddies has a superbuddy. They see the
animations and hear sounds; but I do not. Is this the
correct behavior? If not, what needs to be done to
enable the superbuddy icon on my side to match the
animations of the sender?

I understand in AIM for windows, a seperate package is
used to perform these actions. Is there a similar
requirement for Linux or other Unices?

This sounds like it would be a lot of extra work on the UI
side of things and not a lot of extra work on the protocol
side of things. And it sounds like it's basically separate
from normal buddy icons.

A 'superbuddy' is a special kind of buddy icon that does
animations AND sound... ...it sort of mimics some of the
stuff typed in an IM message... ...especially smilies.
According to my buddy who has one, it giggles, for example,
when she clicks on a 'giggly' smiley; and grins for one of
the grinning ones...

You can buy them from AIM; or get others elsewhere on the 'net.

Regular animated buddy icons seem to work ok in Gaim; but
these do not.

I understand in the Windows version of AIM, the actual
animation and sound stuff is done by some other product than
the AOL AIM software itself... ...that is somehow 'attached'
to the superbuddy icon... ...maybe that's why they don't
work on Gaim.

I have Gaim 1.1.2 on Windows and Linux Mandrake, and Gaim
1.0.0 (latest packaged/tar build) on Solaris 9 Sparc.

None of those environments seem to handle superbuddies
correctly.
