Category: core Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Adam Siegel (agstools) Assigned to: Richard Laager (rlaager) Summary: Gaim logging server Initial Comment: A lot of us at the company use gaim. It would be very interesting if we could setup some type of logging server and you could configure gaim to connect to it when online. Then it would log all conversations from each persons gaim client to our logging server and store them in a database. Anyone else thought of this idea? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-17 15:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Richard Laager (rlaager) Date: 2006-07-07 02:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=156487 There is a Summer of Code project underway to develop a database logger plugin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: rothgar (rothgar) Date: 2006-07-06 19:55 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1001356 I think this would be better just to have the ability to sync gaim logs. So while I am chatting at work when I go home I can have all my logs on gaim at my desktop also. Maybe not so much as a dedicated server but more like google sync for firefox where it just makes sure everything is up to date with your browsing history and active tabs. I guess that would require a server but it would be great to have some kind of chat log sync option. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eduardo Perez Ureta (eperez) Date: 2004-12-08 09:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=60347 Why don't you setup a jabber server in your company and have it log all the conversations? (Seems easier to me) Here are some untested references: Jabberd Conversation Logging http://www.steve.org.uk/Software/jabber/ Bandersnatch http://jabberstudio.org/projects/bandersnatch/project/view.php Tell us if you end up using one of them. I'd like some feedback. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Arkaine (arkaine101) Date: 2004-12-05 18:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1171962 Perhaps a plugin to log to a MySQL server is in order? :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Adam Siegel (agstools) Date: 2004-11-29 14:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=109484 The problem we have is that a lot of us are at different locations. We prefer to communicate using IM rather than a newsgroup style and would like a convenient way to log all the conversations for future reference. We are unable to all be on the same network at the same time to support an NFS logging solution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Robert O'Connor (r0bsf) Date: 2004-11-29 14:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1092427 privacy issues aside, there is already a solution. set the logging path to a directory that is shared either via a win32 share or via nfs...and voila! you have a remote logging server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vince Castellano (surye) Date: 2004-11-29 13:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=673346 Absolutly not, as long as they are notified of the policy before hand. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Robert O'Connor (r0bsf) Date: 2004-11-29 10:57 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1092427 Wouldn't this violate privacy? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1072635&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
