It would be really helpful if there was an option in Preferences to set the base priority for Gaim (and all of Gaim's processes). An example of how this is beneficial, in Winamp for instance, you can choose to set the priority between idle, normal, high, and realtime. When the priority is set to high Winamp responds on a dime when the system/CPU is heavily taxed.
