Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Mark Hancock (mshancock) Assigned to: Sean Egan (seanegan) Summary: group and buddy highlights Initial Comment: selecting a buddy and then selecting outside the buddy list makes it so that the colour of the highlight is the same for groups as for the selected buddy. i think the best solution is to remove the group highlighting (the +/- icon vs. buddy icon plus bold vs. regular font is plenty of distinguishing visual information), but different colours would also solve this problem. in general, the use of the same type of colour change for two different purposes should be avoided. also, in this case, the large contrast difference should be used carefully. it is not pleasing on the eyes to have many groups interleaved with many buddies with such a large contrast. it's okay for selection (a) because people already recognize it and (b) only a small contiguous amount can be selected (in this case 1 thing). if you want to separate groups visually, try a faint line or a small amount of space to separate the last buddy from the next group. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-17 15:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mike Lundy (novas007) Date: 2006-11-12 05:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=182717 I second this request. With the theme I use (Xfce 4.4 default) the group nodes stand out entirely too strongly. For my usage, just the bold (and the extender widget) is plenty to distinguish the groups. However, a faint line probably wouldn't look out of place. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1583213&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
