Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Jan Eldenmalm (klutus) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Improvements for mobility Initial Comment: For Mobile Users <b>This suggestion goes in line with previous feature requestIDs:737558,726704<b> To improve the user experience for mobile users using GAIM for Instant messaging I suggest the following improvements/changes to the application characteristics. While conecting. If one account does not manage to connect it should not affect the other accounts, this is important in environments where you have partial connectivity. Partial connectivity means that you have access rights to one service but not the other. An account should notifiy the user in a descreate way the connection status, the present way of throughing a number of windows that are not removed, causes a situation where the mobile user finds himself either closing windows all day, or having the screen filled with windows. When connected. For the mobile user, loosing and regaining network conectivity is "normal", this means that connectivity is not "always on", but rather...mainly on. A huge improvement would be to less drastically notify that connectivty is poor, during the first XX seconds of lost connectivty the client could maintain the previously known connection status of friends...but gray them out..after XX seconds connectivity would be concidered lost, and the client would go into... "waiting for connectivty mood". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-17 15:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im.
