Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: BB||negBB (bbornegbb) Assigned to: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Summary: lack of mode display in SILC and IRC plugins Initial Comment: I miss the display of user and channel modes in SILC and IRC plugins. In IRC you can get user modes with the /names command (which is not so much fun when there are many users in the channel, as /names does not format very well), in SILC you cannot gain any information about user modes at all - except for mode changes (at least I didn't find a way). There is no way to get information about channel modes either (I just found out: /mode works in IRC, but not in SILC). You can get a users away status in SILC with adding him to the buddy list and looking at the mouseover popup, but not in IRC. You cannot get the away message of a user who is away. I'd purpose using @ and + for +o and +v in the user list like it is commonly used in chat clients, maybe even a solution with little green and yellow icons like xchat <www.xchat.org> has them. Furthermore a /whois command would be nice, or just including more information in the "Info" from a user's context menu. Channel modes could be displayed in the tab "(+pt) #mychannel", but a /mode-command for silc would be sufficient. There is also a problem at least related to IRC channels -- yes, with /mode you can set various things, also add masks to the ban list (+b) (on IRCnet you also have an invites (+I), exceptions (+e) and reop (+r) list that work the same way). But there is no nice way to see any of this lists! You need to use the Debug screen and look at the lines starting with "irc: Unrecognized message". So, a solution to all this would be some sort of IRC channel modes setting window/tab and should (as I said in the duplicate) allow a user to: enable the set the topic, channel modes (+t, +n, +m, +i, +k <key>, +l <#num>, +p || +s) and showing, removing and adding to the lists: at least ban list (+b), but can also for exceptions (+e), invites (+I), reop (+r) list (avalible on IRCnet). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Megan Schneider (ciran) Date: 2006-08-14 13:44 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=801517 Duplicates: 1267599, 1393520 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Stu Tomlinson (nosnilmot) Date: 2004-08-07 12:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=309779 Most of this is addressed already: User modes are now displayed in the user list in IRC, SILC and Jabber as of Gaim 0.81 Channel modes can be seen in irc with /mode and in SILC with /cmode /whois is implemented for both IRC and SILC, and has been for a while, and this shows user's away message on IRC and away status on SILC I think the only remaining item is that channel modes are not displayed in the tab or title, and that's more of an RFE than a bug :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=981080&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
