Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 6 Private: No Submitted By: Sean Crago (mrzaius) Assigned to: Mark Doliner (thekingant) Summary: Request: ignore groups/virtual groups Initial Comment: Related to bug 790651, but not really the same thing. I'd like to request the capability of ignoring groups. A checkbox in the Buddy List preferences menu that made gaim ignore all the groups and sort everything like it was in one group would be very useful. I can't seem to move contacts out of my Yahoo folders into my General folder, where I keep everyone else. The above would make it so that I wouldn't really have to. Another approach might be to implement virtual groups. Ignore groups on the server's side, neither reading from nor writing to them (except to add and remove users), but rather put everything into lists local to gaim. That would allow disorganized folk like me to finally dump everything into a general group and remove the other empty groups. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-20 10:55 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2006-06-26 15:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Mark, can you see to it that this is drawn to the attention of your privacy student please? (If you give me his SF username, I can add him to the trackers) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Megan Schneider (ciran) Date: 2006-06-26 11:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=801517 Adding comment from #870638 (Pierrem - pierrem3012): I dont know if somebody already asked for that ( i didnt find it) But that would be nice if there can be an option to have a non-group view. Merging to this one because this one's assigned to someone and has more comments :P ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mullusko (mullusko) Date: 2005-04-02 10:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1162603 I'd really like to see this also. Groups are only an annoyance to me. I have a lot of contacts, but no more than 15 or so are ever on at once. MirandaIM has the option, "Disable Groups." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Steven Lumos (slumos) Date: 2004-04-15 19:51 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=99931 I think I'm asking for the same thing as this request but I'm not sure. I don't have many buddies, so I'd like them to be displayed in a single group. I get all the buddies to show up as if they were in the same group by renaming all the other groups to the same thing ("People"), but what I really want to do save vertical space by getting rid of the group name and horizontal space by getting rid of the indent before buddy names. The iChat name for this checkbox is "Use groups in buddy list". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Pauli Nieminen (suokko) Date: 2004-03-27 12:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=846724 *subfolders=subgroups I mean that one can greate main group for programming and then split contacts in seperate groups inside programming to make it easier to remember how works in which project. (Just an example) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Pauli Nieminen (suokko) Date: 2004-03-27 11:54 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=846724 With the virtual folders I would like to see subfolders also. It's only think I'm still seeing better in trillian. I need that becasue I have about 500 contacts in my list so I need to organize them well to make it easy to use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=913959&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
