Women’s Learning Partnership (WLP) is an international, non-profit organization 
working to advance communication and cooperation among the women of the world in order 
to protect human rights, facilitate sustainable development, and promote peace.  
WLP’s programs promote women’s leadership and participation in civil society, and 
women’s equal engagement in the production and exchange of information and resources 
worldwide.  To accomplish this, we work in collaboration with partner organizations in 
the Global South.  WLP is currently working in Afghanistan, Cameroon, Jordan, Lebanon, 
Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. WLP provides multimedia 
training materials and other tools to our partners as part of our strategy to advance 
women’s involvement in critical decision-making processes.



Job Description: WLP’s Technology Program Associate will be based at the WLP liaison 
office in Bethesda, Maryland (in the D.C. metro area) and will be responsible for 
providing key technical support for all areas of WLP’s work.  Responsibilities 
include:





#       Update, expand, and coordinate the development of WLP’s multi-lingual 
websites including liaising  with website designers and translators, maintaining 
website front-end and data management, improving functionality of the website, and 
ensuring site security.

#       Maximize WLP’s online presence through e-marketing and conducting aggressive 
outreach to web-based publications, search engines, and key gender and development 
websites.

#       Assist with enabling partner organizations to expand their access to and use 
of ICTs.

#       Assist with the execution of innovative web-based campaigns that enable the 
public to make their voices heard on women’s right to full participation in civil 
society.

#       Coordinate the development of e-newsletters, listservs, discussion boards, 
radio webcasts, and video-conferencing among WLP partners.

#       Write progress reports, user manuals, how-to-guides, and technical 
documentation.

#       Provide backup IT support to staff members, manage the server, maintain 
mailing list databases, and perform other related responsibilities.



Qualifications: Commitment and dedication to women’s empowerment. Experience in 
non-profit web design and editing; strong writing and editing skills; ability to 
communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds; understanding of emerging 
technologies; excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented; and ability to 
manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.



Preferred Skills:  Degree in Computer Science; experience in public relations and 
marketing; familiarity with Linux and Windows NT systems and database development; and 
creativity and flexibility.  International experience is desirable.
