Dear Blake: Galaxy is a public, internet accessible resource. Data transfer and data storage are not encrypted. If there are restrictions on the way your research data can be stored and used, please consult your local institutional review board (IRB) or the project PI before uploading it to any public site, including this Galaxy server.
Please, note that we understand that in many cases when clinical data is analyzed it is not advisable to transmit such data over internet at all. In these situations we advise users to deploy local galaxy installations (http://getgalaxy.org) or cloud instances (http://usegalaxy.org/cloud; although cloud does not solve the transmission issue). We anticipate having a Galaxy workshop in the greater LA area in the coming months and will be glad to discuss these issues.
