Hi Ari, I have not figured out a way to restart in dos mode with Windows XP like we could in Windows 95 and 98. Even if one could the dos that comes with XP is not the same. Windows used to run on top of dos. Now XP is windows with a simulated dos mode.
Even at the Windows XP command prompt you can type help to get help with dos commands. Such as help copy That would give you the help with the copy command. To get a list of all of the dos commands, just type help. However it is more than one screen full, so you will want to type something like help | more Or you could send it all to a text file such as help > DosHelp.txt I believe that with Jaws for dos turning off speaking of punctuation would stop the pronouncing of such things as the vertical bar. Although I very often use the Windows XP command prompt I have pretty much given up on playing dos games. I have converted all of my dos games to better windows versions. I was never very good at the text adventure games. My favorites however were Leather Goddesses of Phoboes, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Deep Space Drifter.
