Sounds exactly like Hi Q, in which you start with the center hole blank, jumping into an empty space as in checkers, removing the jumped piece, and trying to end up with only one piece left on the board, that piece being in the center space. Not all that easy. To make Hi Q even harder, you had one odd colored piece. Place it in the correct place at the beginning, then play until only the odd colored piece remains on the board, in the center space.
