Hi Jim,

Yeah, I don't believe I played many text games when I could see
either. When I could see I had an Atari 2600, an Atari 7800, a
Nintendo Entertainment System, and so on so played most of the classic
arcade games available for those consoles.

It was only in the 90's when I began to have difficulty with console
and PC games that I began looking for text games for Dos and Windows
that worked with Jaws. Thus I started to get into text adventures like
Zork, Wishbringer, Arthur, and Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy
because that was really all that was accessible to me at that time.

As far as spelling goes I am not a great speller either. The
difference between myself and some other blind listers is I try to
spell check everything I post to have the highest amount of legibility
possible. I'm sure I do make mistakes now and then, but people aren't
likely to notice since I do proofread everything I post to the list.

However, regarding text adventures I would be lost if I could not
review the screen. I've made mistakes of misspelling certain items
before and that can be slightly annoying typing something like
"examine panal" when I actually meant to type "examine panel."
However, since I can't see the text on the screen it is easy to forget
how to spell that word, and I have to go review the text on the screen
for the correct spelling for this or that.

Cheers!
