Hi Josh,
Now, you are seeing the problem we game developers face everyday. Let's
just say in the two years since I have been in business with USA Games I
have had numerous requests for Harry Potter, Spiderman, Batman,
Superman, Star Wars, you name it from interested folks wanting this or
that game produced.
As a developer and a fan of those things I'd love to make those types of
games. Biggest problem is all of those things have strong copyrights
attached to there characters, stories, music, and sound effects.
All I am saying is if you want to make a accessible Warcraft go ahead,
but understand the use of the sounds and story are heavily copyrighted.
If found out you could be facing legal action. I could be facing it for
games like STFC.
One way to avoid legal action is to release it as freeware, and if you
haven't sold the game then the game studios are less likely to take you
to court. They would be more likely to tell you to take it down, close
down, and that is the end of it.
