Hi Joshua.
I could never get Estia 1 to even let me sign up to the game, there was no
capture but it never sent me an e-mail even when I tried two different
addresses, plus the game wasn't apparently that accessible and when I
contacted the devs they were pretty apathetic about access fixes, they said
"well it doesn't work well with screen readers so tough"
Let us know if you get any fixes to any of these issues, though real time in
browser games can be somewhat problematic, I have seen instances of it
working, Godville, the mech battles of core exiles or pvp in puppet
nightmares, but I've also seen occasions where it really doesn't.
As I said, if you hear back from the devs and they have a better attittude
towards access than I thought let me know.
Beware the grue!
Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] Estiah 2--the new iteration of the game focuses more on
story and battle mechanics
Hi all,
Let me just mention up front that the signup process for this new game has
an inaccessible captcha that requires you to pick a pair of the same icons
that appear in a picture, that are different from other icons in the same
picture. I guess there are four icons, two icons that look the same and
the other two do not. You have to click the section that looks the same.
That being said, I have mixed feelings on the game thus far, aside from
the Captcha. With this game, battles are in real time. Not necessarily
bad, but with this game, unlike Estiah 1, where you chose a gear deck that
would be simulated in battle, in this game you have to click and choose
when you will play your deck and in what order, trying to make sure you
either do not run out of life and defeat your opponent, or you can run out
of spirit instead—running out of charms and lose because you’ve used all
of the charms you had equipped at the wrong time.
I remember Bladestorm saying on the audio games forum that he hated Estiah
1’s battle system because it relied too much on luck, your charms were
randomly chosen and you as a player didn’t have any outcome of the battle
other than managing your gears.
Now, along with managing gears, in battle you have to click on each charm
you want to use, and there is a timer, which screen readers say as Tic,
which determines how many seconds you have to act before the enemy does.
Right now I am level 5, and stuck on the tutorial segment where you’re
fighting with one of the main story allies, Oscar, and your goal is only
to defend yourself. The goal of this part of the tutorial is to
demonstrate winning by removing all of your opponent’s spirit so they use
all of their charms.
Since you unlock new charms after every battle as far as I know from what
I have played, equipping them is not an issue. The gears page works almost
like Estiah 1’s gear system. However, this tutorial is telling me to max
out my armor and ward charms so I can best defend myself. As far as I’m
aware, Ship Board and Captain’s Hat, the two previous charms you get in
the previous battle, accomplish this.
With this particular battle though it goes pretty fast. Add to the fact
that there is no keyboard shortcuts to click charms, I’m surprised I got
as far as I did. I do lose the battle though, and part of it has to do
with Jaws freezing at battle start, NVDA’s browse mode comes on at bad
times, so I’m not sure if it is my Gears because I am clicking those
charms. I made a post on the forums about this, but there needs to be a
way for us to click on a charm, look at the tic timer so we don’t change
our option, since clicking on a charm before the tic timer is done means
that you changed your action for that turn, even though it’s not really a
turn but you know what I mean.
If anyone wants to give this game a go and figure out if there’s a way we
can adapt to it, here is the link.

I do like that this game focuses on more of a story overall than Estiah 1.
Estiah 1 had stories but it was little stories focused in dungeons and
whatnot. You get story immediately upon creating your character in this
version. You also have to complete a portion of the campaign before the
optional PVP is unlocked.
I hope people interested in RPGs with a focus on a serious story gives
this a go because if we can get back to the developers about potential
accessibility options I’d hope he’d be receptive.
