hi dark,

with combat missions you're shooting up ai ships not player ships. 

there are 2 types of combat mission. 1 where a ship has been stolen, a group of 
people are effectively stranded in space and you have to go get their ship from 
pirates by damaging it beyond the pirates wish to stay on it. this mission will 
have a power rating. you need to know your ships total power. it's divided into 
shields weapons etc. in order for you to do a successful combat mission you 
need to have your shields at 65% of your weapons. this is taking into account 
you have researched all the combat tactics and have hired the combat officer 
which you can do with qp. like i say come join the sss the leader is called the 
1 above all. we are a friendly bunch. pretty lucely run as well. you would get 
help with modules and qp and financial help to get you started into the game. 
people are happy to help you in the game as well.
