You're moving right towards the hole. You hear the two creaking steps. On the second step, you tap up arrow. You never release the right arrow, move over the pit, land on the other side, and keep moving.

Nope, what you're doing wrong is you're tapping the arrow. It says in the manual that you need to hold the left or right arrow after you jump. Tapping does nothing. I hit right arrow to the 2nd creaky bord, then up arrow and tap the right arrow really fast to cross the gap, but poor Patric still plumets to his untimely death. Am I getting my timing all wrong?
