About this project Photos of each die Photos of each die
Photos of each die

We intend to create a high quality set of 3D printed Polyhedral Dice with a brand new 3d printer. These dice will be usable with a wide
variety of RPG games
and would be both functional for blind players and a great novelty item for sighted RPG players interested in being inclusive. We've printed sample models using the model that we're looking at buying and we're pretty happy with the way they turned out. We have already shown we are committed and capable of helping the blind community join gaming with our last Kickstarter that let us open our store.

What we need now is enough capital to make our dream of doing the same
for RPG dice come true.

But if you don't trust me, here's video of with a blind person trying
them for the for the first time.

What about stretch goals? We wanted to limit the number of dice as rewards because our 3d printer can only do so much so fast so our planned stretch goals are
for other devices so
we could produce other things concurrently instead of backing up the line. Our first one is to get a CNC router at $5000. When we reach this level all backers of full sets of dice will receive their choice of a
free Blind Meeple
or d20 dice bag with their pledge.

The CNC router will let us add what we are calling a Tactile Tactic Grid. This is a 12 inch by 12 inch wooden grid with raised lines. This
would allow blind
players to do tactical play of games like DnD or Pathfinder without worry of knocking over the pieces. These pieces fit together allowing
players to build
bigger grids that can break down easily.

Additionally it let us add a new reward level for a wooden or plastic version of the game YOINK (we will have to decide AFTER the Kickstarter what material makes the best game when we can try it) that we did for our first Kickstarter
and braille puzzle
piece blocks which teachers can fit together to teach dot locations.

If we reach that we have other ideas as well. Any funds beyond what is needed for the printer will be going back into the company to offer
more games and
get more tools to make more products. We are also interested in other suggestions for dice that we could add to the project such as fudge dice for RPGs that use them or other
ideas.

We also have social stretch goals that are shown below.

What is with the tiers?

3D printing takes a long time. We wanted to make sure we weren't expected to ship out all of the materials at the same time so we
divided the rewards into
tiers with different delivery months to make it more manageable. We will be trying to produce the dice in roughly backing order and ship
them out as soon
as they are done. Since we are manufacturing in house that means we'll start shipping rewards as soon as we get the printer ordered and
working.

Also you will notice that the tiers are limited. We didn't want to super fund and have to make thousands of dice if somehow this went
really viral. If you
miss the Kickstarter we will of course have these available at our store
but that will only be after all the Kickstarter dice are produced.

What else will this project let you do?

While the dice are super awesome, we also are interested in making more custom parts for games. We've been experimenting for instance
with a 3d braille
replacement board for Settlers of Catan.

We also want to use this as a platform to launch more braille teaching products that aren't necessarily tied to gaming. We've already had
great success
making swing cells and snap blocks. We believe with the new tool we can do a better job with these products too. Braille Snap Blocks Braille Snap Blocks

If this is successful I've also have some ideas for helping teach
braille math for instance that I hope this can help with.

Don't you have a 3D Printer?

Back in 2014 we launched a Kickstarter campaign that allowed us through stretch goals to purchase a 3D printer. We've used that printer extensively and continue to use it but we really are
seeking to
improve the quality and consistency of our prints. Printing technology has gotten a lot better since our initial Kickstarter campaign and we
are confident
that the upgrade to the dice quality is substantial.

We've experimented with molding dice and while we were able to make mass quantities for our Kickstarter stretch goals(over 300) using
molds and poured plastic.

The molds had some problems, the braille dots weren't perfect as even one bubble could destroy a die if it ruined a dot, it was really
messy, and we ended
up wasting a lot of materials. This video is part of our original campaign and you can see my frustration with the molded dice at the
end.

After talking it over we feel that we will be able to create a better
and sustainable dice production with another printer.

We could just start selling the dice right now with our current printer but honestly the quality isn't up to our standards.
Additionally if as those who
have been following us closely know our printer has been down for repairs most of the summer. The new printer is much more reliable by
all accounts and
is less likely to need repairs.

We want it to be a great product and that's why we're turning to
Kickstarter again.

Risks and challenges

We've proven we are able to deal with the logistics of a huge project
with our last Kickstarter and we stick by that.

The biggest risk is mechanical break down of the printer. Although the technology is proven(we've done samples) there is no promises that it
will be able
to do as many dice as we need to before it breaks down or has some sort of error. Even in this unlikely event we would still be able to produce dice
using our other 3D printer or be able to offer refunds.

Our reputation means a lot and I think we've consistently proved our
commitment to both the blind and gaming communities.
