Hi Jess.
That is quite the list of questions, i'll try and answer as I can beginning
with your question about MushZ and muds.
First, Alteraeon and godwars are what is called muds. these are games that
send text from a central server across the internet to your computer in real
time. Usually muds are rpg type games where you either gain levels, battle
or do other activities to improve your character, or games which rely on you
heavily interacting with other players.
One thing to bare in mind is that muds are! text games and don't usually
have sounds. The great sounds in Alteraeon in mushZ come from the hard work
of Oriol and the maintainers building a huge soundpack that effectively turn
Alteraeon into a full on audiogame.
You will simply not find other muds like this, not with all the sounds etc,
however there are many great muds to try scattered around.
Some that have pages on audiogames.net include materiamagica, classic six
dragons, Aardwolf, promethius, (a space game), Fluxworld, and clok, and some
that will get pages very soon include Avalon, Cosmic rage, empire and
frandom.
As I said most muds are text games, butt don't let that put you off.
As to how to play them with MushZ that is a more complicated business.
?
To play a mud, you need a program known as a mud client. this connects to
the mud and sends text to your computer, and usually if it's the better sort
of mud client outputs to your screen reader or to sapi.
The Alteraeon MushZ client is actually a very heavily modified and scripted
version of the client called Mushclient which many people use.
for playing muds other than Alteraeon though, you might also consider Vipmud
from www.gmagames.com, which is imho easier to use if your not used to muds
and don't want to do a lot of complex scripting type things.
I can't help you with Mushclient, but Vipmud might be what your looking for.
hth.
