Hi ken, ok well I have made some progress here. I am cc'ing a copy of this to the blindgamers forum in case it interests anyone else. I don't know if you read that guy Grant's very helpful message in the blindgamers forum but basically the first thing you have to do to use this thing is set your graphics mode to all. On a qx, you do this by hitting jaws key plus s then g for graphics until it says all. After that you can access the menu bar. The top level is unlabeled graphics but if you go into each one you can see the functions. The first one is equivalent to a file menu you can load stories and exit and so on there. By the way it is important to either exit when you are done with this program or else do a soft reset otherwise it jacks up your today screen. The next one is a view menu you can change the font size and turn blind mode on and other stuff there. Frankly I don't see what blind mode really does but I have it turned on.
Once you get all these things set and are ready to load a story be sure to set your screen mode to say all. On a qx you do this by hitting jaws key plus s then s until it says all. This is not a perfect solution, jaws reads way too much of the old text especially when you do things that result in short output of text. But I am currently fooling with zork the undiscovered underground empire and it is actually working and is playable. I intend to start playing with zorks 1 2 and 3 and maybe leather goddesses of phobos here pretty quick assuming I can find the old floppy disk they are on and assuming it is still good. I don't think it would take a whole lot at all for somebody to write a script to make this thing work right. Unfortunately that somebody is not going to be me as I know absolutely nothing about script writing for the pac mate, I would not even know where to start let alone anything else, and although it is tempting to learn it I just do not have the time or energy right now. Perhaps I can get someone on the pac mate list to consider doing something like this for us there are some people who like doing the script thing on there.
