Hi Liam,
Generally speaking commercial grade production games are written in C or 
C++. Assembly is far too complex for the average game studio so it never 
goes to that low a level.
However, I do know high level languages perl, Python, VB etc are not 
suited for game consoles and poritible game devices. So C or C++ is the 
99% chanse here.
