I don't think you so much as hold the control key as just press it. Also, if there's a vanishing platform you'll want to make sure it's there. If you hear the low hum (it sort of reminds me of a great big giant bell), it's safe to jump. It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go. J.D.
