Well Raul, the only key Hal actually needs is the key to turn back on the hotkeys, ----- ctrl eight by default. If you've turned the voice off, you need to re-enable hotkeys before you turn it back on.
I'm not sure of all the technical reasons, but from what I've read in other docs, Hal probably doesn't do the same thing with tracking curser keys as Jaws, ----- and maybe Window eyes, I'm not sure. Once the voice and keys are off, for all practical purposes, it seems as if Hal isn't there anymore though it's stil running in the background. I've known people do some pretty intensive keyboard intensive stuff with hal's voice and keys off, ----- such as playing graphical games on the same machine, and there didn't appear to be any slowdown or similar.
