Hi Ari, You don't need to know a thing about Star Trek to play STFC. In fact, the game is designed in such a way that it pulls in Star Trek enthusiasts, but is also generic enough to be apealing to non-Trek gamers as well. The game is basically like an advanced interactive board game, and all the things you need to know to play the game is in the manual that ships with the game. Hth.
