Hi Damien,
I'm sorry to hear that your sapi5 text to speech engine is not working.
You could try going to the control panel and speech to set your computer's
default voice to one of the Microsoft voices like Sam, Mary or Mike and then
running the DelUserLex.exe file from my site.
Another fix that I have heard of is to go to
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Speech
Then, press enter on Sapisvr.exe. It won't say anything, but it should
correct the control panel entries for Sapi.
And another fix that I have heard of is
1. Put your xp cd in and, if you have autorun turned on, hold down the left
shift when the disk tray is closing, holding the key until the disk stops or
slows.
2. Open the c:\windows\inf folder and highlight the sapi5.inf file.
3. Press the applications key and arrow down to install and press enter.
4. When you get the message saying file needed sapi.dll, go to browse and point
to and open the i386 file folder and press enter on ok.
5. Go to ok on the install procedure and press enter and you're done.
Or you could put your windows XP CD in and do a system repair as the sapi5 text
to speech engine is part of the Windows XP operating system.
Oh yeah one other thing that I have heard is that the program Total Recorder
seems to mess with the sapi5 text to speech engine.
I hope that some of that might help.
BFN
Jim
