I think I'm getting the hang of most of the landing procedure, but the
trick is setting a good enough airspeed and/or angle of attack that I have
enough time to line up with the landing beacon as well as deploy the
landing gear. To date I haven't managed to do it, though I think I've come
close a few times.

I can take off OK, but landing is difficult for me. I manage to do it
about 25% of the time...

Ok guys is tdv worth the download? I am asking because when I
downloaded tdv a year or so ago the sounds were not that good. For
example in the old tdv from a year or so ago you did not hear the
engines rev up and down in short, the game sounds were not that great.
So how is it now? Are the sounds better? Is the game really worth it
this time?
