Hi Tom.
In that case, how about a sort of best of the best type of contest. If there
is limited space in the game, it seems only fair that the wrestlers best
known and best liked by yourself, (and possibly some others here), should be
in the game, irrispective of when they wrestled or what they are doing now.
For instance, I'd personally love to see Hulk hogan and Bret heart, even
though they technically retired, (even Hulk is semi retired and talks more
now than he wrestles, though given his age that's not surprising), along
with some more modern wrestlers from different federations such as Kurt
angle, edge etc.
I'd suggest you just skip anyone you think is just a flash in the pan, and
concentrate on the real heroes. In cases of conflict, just go with whichever
one you like best in personality and wrestling technique.
Of course, I myself haven't seen victoria or! tara wrestle, so it wouldn't
make a huge difference to me which you chose, and other people might think
differently.
Still, making it a best of the best with a bias to those you think would be
good in the game would stil imho be the best solution.
heck, you could even make this a little tongue in cheek, call it the best of
time wrestling federation.
Beware the grue!
DArk.

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Your Thoughts Regarding my Wrestling Game
Hi Dark,
That's a good point, but I am also attempting to reduce the number of
performers to a manageable size. That's why I initially started with
the WWE roster since I'm most familiar with those performers, but have
little to know experience with Ring of Honor. I chose to skip a lot of
performers who have retired, died, etc just to bring the database down
to a manageable number of performers I can humanly hard code into the
database for the moment.
Obviously, if I were going to add someone like Hulk Hogan I'd use
"Real American" because it is by and large the most well known theme
music he used. Same goes for a number of other superstars like Brett
Hart who is best associated with "Hitman" which Brett Hart used for
most of the 1990's, and Jim Johnston has created variations of over
the course of Brett's wrestling career. In fact, Natalya's entrance
music, "New Foundation," is just a newer variation of "Hitman."
However, my question was mainly aimed at what to do with wrestlers who
are still active and change their persona and/or music for reason x.
Its one thing having long established performers like Hulk Hogan or
Brett Hart who have more or less retired and can be best be remembered
at the height of their career. Its another thing when we have rookies
who have not established a name for themselves, go away for a few
months, and come back with a totally new persona, theme music,
whatever.
Cheers!

Hi Tom.
by quite a coincidence, my brother (who is a big wrestling fan), went to
a
tna main event with some of his friends recently, and gave me a ful
report.
According to him, even people who were in the tna but who'd been
previously
in the wwe were pretty obviously the same wrestlers, even when copywrite
changes had to be made. For instance, Bubber ray Dugly couldn't wrestle
under the name bubber, so wrestled as Bully ray, though it was pretty
obviously the same wrestler (he even referenced his old tag team partner
Deevon).
Hulk Hogan even made a guest appearence, and in fact came out to his old
1990's theme "real American" rather than the newer one he got later on,
simply because that music was so much associated with hulk as a
character.
so, it seems pretty clear from this that it's the music and personality
most
associated with particular wrestlers that matter, not whatever promo or
even
federation they're in.
for instance, I'd be very disappointed if Hulk didn't! have the real
american music, or was missed from the game sinse he's now wrestling for
tna, though notes on who is from where could indeed be informative to
people
like myself who aren't as up on wrestling (my brother is currently far
more
a fan than I am).
Beware the grue!
Dark.
