Hi Dark,

Actually, Jaws doesn't have to be completely unloaded. All someone has to do is put Jaws in sleep mode, or create a configuration file that automatically putsJaws to sleep when the game is loaded. Although, games will run better if Jaws is unloaded.

As for Window-Eyes the best way to use Window-Eyes with games is to save a set file with voice set to off. That way when the game is loaded Window-Eyes doesn't go nuts announcing every key press in the game. Of course disabling key echo would work as well.

Cheers!

Hi paulette.

If your using window eyes, you probably just need to turn the voice off to prevent speech interupting you in the game.

With jaws you need to utterly unload the screen reader and quit the program because of the way jaws handles the keyboard, but for most screen readers it's not necessary, in supernova for example I just hit control 0 to shut the voice off, and sometimes controls 8 to shut the keys off if the game needs some of the same keys supernova uses such as the numberpad (though this isn't always necessary).

Perhaps someone who uses window eyes as their main screen reader could give more information on this.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
