hI kIETH.
It depends upon what you like. The if I enjoyed tended to be those that
weren't too difficult in terms of their illogical puzzles, but heavy on
exploring another world.
Some of my favourites included dreamhold by andrew plotkin, Paul O'brian's
lash, and his earth and sky series, plus his smmaller game wearing the claw,
Pythos mask by emily short, and the tad's game Babel.
Probably the single best if title I've ever! played was the game worlds
appart, which was simply fantastic in writing and exploration, and I didn't
find any of the puzzles too harsh at all.
unfortunately I tended to find that i got a little sick of wading through if
with unknowable puzzles, and getting stuck, so I pretty much stopped
llooking, which is why i haven't played too many games recently.
Also however note that even though the if community seem to have a major
downer on rpg mechanics for some reason, there are! a few full on rpg games
written in if formats.
first among these of course is the wonderfull glulx game kerkerkruip, (check
audiogames.net), which is fantastic! but there are also the zcode games
wumpas 2000 and treasures of a slavers kingdom.
Hth.
As I said, though i love text rpgs generally, standard if just got too much
on my nerves and I don't really play it anymore.
Beware the grue!
Dark.
