Yeah before the 1.3 update I could do that. Now I can't. basically it's like the physical text isn't there but the screen reader can still see it. I've even tried turning wineyes off and clicking the screen to see what it does and nothing.

As regards smugglers and the "can't make a visible window modal" bug, you should be able to just close the error window and carry on regardless. It shouldn't freeze the game unless it's doing something wonky at your end that isn't happening at mine. Then again, the only time I've seen that bug is when firing at a targit who uses focused shield, (I think it's something to do with the animation on the shield affect), so it doesn't come up too often for me.
