Hi tom.
Yeah I missed the lti games out, oops.
The other homer games are part of the kitchensinc stuff and would probably fit.
The only reason I havn't mentioned the early pb games is that I have had some issues with the java system. Although I know they can be set up reasonably easily, I don't trust the java systems as they sometimes need fine tuning and my plan is to stay with straight library based games. I have all libs from dotnet 1.1 to 4.0 slim dx directx visual c 2005-2010 and a few others. My plan is to bump all those, and maybe tads, hugo and inform with sapi active maybe the infocom archive, and some of my old games from my old games directory that are in inform and tads, and let em wrip though some of those are not suitable either so I will have to go through and fiddle a bit with my stuff.
Anyway if things work with established libraries thats fine.
I have also left games that need experienced cracking and hacking of settings and manual library installations as I am more than likely going to have a limited setup time once this all goes golden.
I have no idea of the time frame, but I assume asap.
THe core software will be active.
My main tasks will be to load office, load any extras, do a full drive scan and frag check. upgrade everything to full, then do a performance test on the system, a stress burnin and crash test all with pcpitstop and a driver upgrade run.
Games are at the end of my list.
And based on those I want stuff I can load and configure with little or no actual work on my part as I have no idea what the runtime for this is. I have been on the recieving end of projects where its taken far to long to run things.
So worst case senario I am looking at a runtime of basically 5 days ago.
Which means I need to be able to load and configure straight if at all.
This means no fiddling if I can help it.
Its a pitty that the guy has no net as I have enjoyed the quentin c playroom and would definately like to use that.
but oh well.
I have no idea what will eventually get on.
And to tell you the truth, what I just put out is a broad software list chunk.
On a couple other lists I have put out a vote list for other software.
THats the first stage.
Ofcause the next stage is the brief.
Its possible that the guy will be destracted with games and this part of the project will end. Or it may mean that even mild violence is disruptive meaning I will have to choose what I load and it may not be everything.
So its why I have stayed with the smaller stuff.
stfc may be ok as well as old trek2k to, and maybe world of war and bocura2 but who knows.
I am probably going to load bgt, and some stuff like roadsplat.
However whatever I load needs to be reasonably safe.
I am not sure what leeway I have and if I get it right fine.
if not I will get shot with a rocket and my life won't be worth living.
The game idea is just an addon, I will know what exactly I will get.
I plan to put out what is round, but as you probably know sighted vs blind especially in schools in general and what they can and are allowed to do can be as open as a front door or as closed down as a 386 running windows 95. I won't go into things right here but I had an experience where a probabal misconfiguration got me access to a system that I shouldn't have got access to. I was then blamed for hacking and fired and then given a lame excuse why I was fired. i doubt the origional issue was solved either as I had someone on the inside and he aparently told me it got even worse. sertain sightlings are set in their ways of managing the poor blind and knowing what is best for the poor disabled, retarded and helpless. This is a load of cow dung but just like cow dung it smells and sticks to things, and you can't move it easily.
So once I give the brief I fully expect to run the minimal things.
Ofcause at heart I am a hacker, and will try to break the rules where I can.
However that may mean dumming down majorly.
Right now I am just getting a feel on what is good or not.
sertainly shooting monsters or even other junk is probably out but we will see.

Hi Shaun,

Well, I guess that all depends on what you mean by "no violence." When
it comes to games there is some mild forms of violence such as
blowing up spaceships in a game like Dark Destroyer, and there are
some more extreme forms of violence such as mowing down a horde of
zombies with a machine gun. In any case here are a few ideas you
missed that would make great kid games.

Homer on a Harley
Awesome Homer
Dark Destroyer
Showdown
Kringle Crash
Giftenum
Bobby's Revenge
Light Locator
Light Cars
Treasure Mania
The Horse Racing Game

Cheers!
