there is no need to upgrade the machine.  i want ganglia to support 
freebsd 4.x as well.  i found a 4.7 box here and whipped up a new g3 
snapshot that will compile and run on freebsd 4.x.

has the latest version which i think you'll find will work on your older 
freebsd.  i also put the tarballs of a few of the libraries that g3 
depends on there as well to make installation easier.
