Well, I think that part of the reason to use git is that you don't *need* a central repository like you do with SVN and CVS. Everyone has a repository, and shares patches back and forth, so in effect, "everyone" hosts it. Lots of people could pull from your version of the tree, or my version, or Carlo's version, or someone else's tree.
