i checked the mesg generated by gmond as it started.
it gives unable to find multicast enabled interface.
failed to find interface apart from lo.can the lo be
made multicast enabled. i tried to set with ifconfig
and have run gmond but it gives invalid argument. is
there any way to enable multicast in loopback instead
of having an ethernet interface.

plz do reply to me

Hi,

I had a similar problem and had to set a dial-up
connection to get
gmond
working, otherwise it stays asking for a valid
multicast-enabled
interface.

You can set debug_level to 100 in gmond.conf and start
it manually with
su nobody -c '/usr/sbin/gmond' to see exactly what
it's happening.

I hope this helps you.
