I compiled 2.5.7 from source on both SUSE EL8 and Mandrake (both AMD64)
and it is working fine...

I tried to install the i386.rpm but it conflicts with /lib &
/lib64 I am running SuSE Enterprise 8.0 with Service-Pack 3.
(kernel 2.4.21-143)
I tried to download the src files but not all of them are available.
