What are the purpose of udp_send and udp_receive channels in the gmond configuration? The configuration of these sections is well documented, but I cannot find any explanation of what they do or why they're required...
From what I've read, the gmetad daemon polls the gmond daemons every 15 seconds (by default). gmetad knows which hosts need to be polled from the data_sources line in the gmetad.conf file. What would gmond be using the udp_* channels for?
