I don't think that there is anything inherent in the .rrd files to
distinguish a "stock" metric (e.g. from gmond) from a "custom" one
(e.g. sent via gmetric).  However, gmetad does keep track of the
source of the data, and can provide that.  I think that this means if
a metric hasn't been updated since gmetad was started, gmetad won't
know about it (I'm not 100% sure about that).
