Hi Kristy,

Ganglia versions 3.0.x & 3.1.x are only compatible at the XML/gmetad
level, not at the gmond udp/multicast metric level.  See the release
notes for version 3.1.0 for more information:

Perhaps this important note should be kept in the release notes for all
3.1.x versions, just in case someone skips over 3.1.0 when upgrading.
