Here's an issue I've long thought about in the back of my mind, but always managed to avoid having to actually deal with, and now I think I'm going to have to:
What if you're tracking a bunch of custom metrics about something that you run on a bunch of hosts (such as a database server, web server, mail server, etc.) ... and then someone wants to run two separate instances of that software on one of the servers? I can think of several workarounds to make it possible to view both instances separately in Ganglia, but all of them are kind of ugly and may also lead to maintenance headaches. I'd like to hear from anyone who has dealt with this situation already. What did you do? How well did it work out in practice? -- Cos ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Ganglia-general mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ganglia-general
