Hit #1 on Google for "SDL" :) It's the "Simple DirectMedia Layer", a library that abstracts away some of the details of graphics, sounds, windows, etc. to make it easy to do e.g. cross-platform GUI products. I've seen it most often used for games (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_using_SDL) but early versions of the Factor GUI used SDL as well.
