Of course this is pointless, as other packages require python-2.4. Given the Gnome project's aggressive python version requirements, a bootstrap/python might be a good idea. Rebuilding from scratch with python-2.4... *sigh*

pygobject and pygtk now require python 2.3.5 on configure. They don't
really need 2.3.5 - 2.3.5 is a bugfix release with no API changes.
Changing configure to require 2.3.4 works just fine, and enables
compilation to proceed on RHEL4 without installing a custom python
version.
